GAUTRAIN’S service
between Sandton
and OR Tambo
International Airport now
operates from earlier in
the morning till later in the
evenings.
The first trains now leave
Sandton at 04h50 and
05h10 and the last trains
from the airport will leave
at 20h46 and 21h04.
Jack van der Merwe,
Gautrain ceo, said the
early and late trains
did not stop at stations
between the airport and
Sandton. “This means that
if passengers want to
make use of the early or
late service, they have to
use Sandton station as
their departure point and
not any other station on
the Gautrain route,”
he said.
The Sandton and OR
Tambo stations will open
and close 15 minutes
before the first and last
trains leave each day.
Jack said the Gautrain
airport service continued
to show positive growth
since it started operations
on June 8, 2010,
and currently carries
an average of 5 500
passengers per day.
