Greece introduces EES leniency for Brits

Greece has introduced a temporary easing of its Entry Exit System (EES) biometric registration requirements for British passport holders, effective April 10.

According to social media posts from the Embassy of Greece in London, British passport holders will not need to submit biometric data, including fingerprints and photographs, at Greek border crossings.

A spokesperson for the European Commission told The Independent UK that, while the EES allows this flexibility to temporarily address congestion at border crossing points, the exemption cannot be implemented for an extended period of time.

The Greek National Tourism Organisation welcomed the move, noting that it would reduce excessive waiting times at Greek airports and border crossings.
