Group plans new tech

To make sure the XL
Travel Group is leveraging
technology to its fullest
potential, the company
is rolling out new tools
and enhancements to
existing tools.
Enhancements are
planned for the XLGO app,
which was developed in
partnership with Travelport,
including incorporating
passive segments, or
segments not booked
on the GDS, so that the
entire itinerary can be
displayed in the app. The
main feature of this app is
driving engagement with the
customer, a recurring theme
raised by many speakers at
the conference.
Looking ahead, Marco
said the group would
shortly launch a corporate
and leisure booking tool
for customers as well as
agents, while the testing
of a mobile app would start
in 2018, with launch later
in the year.
Despite the rapid
advancements in
technology, Marco
emphasised the need to
build relationships, which
can only be done by a
human. Technology merely
facilitated this, he said.
