GSA offers cruise clients peace of mind

Cruise Vacations has launched its Travel Agency Nomination Scheme, offering peace of mind to clients and encouraging them to book through their local travel agency.

A press release says the scheme allows the client to book with Cruise Vacations as the official local GSA, and make payment via Cruise Vacations, which goes directly to the cruise line. The booking can be done by a travel agent, cruise specialist agency or directly through Cruise Vacations, but the client nominates their agency of choice to handle the booking once services resume, and the nominated agent can then record that booking as a future sale and start re-building their books, with the commission being paid in the month of travel.

Gaynor Neill, gm of Cruise Vacations, said: “The industry has faced a crisis the likes of which we have never seen before, and there are many casualties in the retail travel trade. Many of these agents have loyally supported our products for the 25 years that we have represented our cruise lines locally. Unfortunately, many of those agencies are currently non-operational and facing an uncertain future.  We wanted to come up with a scheme that would firstly, give clients peace of mind to book locally, while at the same time assisting those agencies to get back on their feet once the crisis abates.”

Cruise Vacations is the GSA in South Africa for Silversea Cruises, Scenic Cruises, Emerald Waterways and Star Clippers.
