Home Affairs rolls out passport delivery

From November 1, the Department of Home Affairs will introduce a passport doorstep delivery service for South African citizens living abroad.

South Africans will be able to select the courier delivery instead of travelling to an office for passport collection. The initial roll-out of the service abroad allows the department to refine the process, before rolling it out in South Africa as well.

The service will initially be available at service centres in the following cities, with more to follow:

  • Australia – Melbourne, Perth, Sydney
  • New Zealand – Auckland, Wellington
  • UAE – Abu Dhabi, Dubai
  • UK – Edinburgh, London, Manchester
  • US – New York, Washington
  • Canada – Ottawa
  • China – Beijing, Shanghai
  • The Netherlands – The Hague
  • Germany – Berlin, Düsseldorf

Turnaround times will range from 24 to 72 hours and will cost between $30 (R520) and $60 (R1 040).
