Hot new wheels for operator

IN an effort to give physically challenged tourists the freedom and mobility to explore Gauteng, Wilro Tours and Transfers had risen to the challenge by becoming the first microbus operator in the province to introduce a fleet of buses which have been adapted for the comfort of this niche market.
According to Wilro's Eugene Armer, the microbuses have been fitted with a specially manufactured unit in which the front bench of the microbus is removed and replaced with a metal floor and a fold-up attached ramp which provides comfortable access to the vehicle.
"Once inside, the unit is strapped in place to ensure a safe journey. Each vehicle which is temporarily fitted with the unit can accommodate two wheelchair passengers and four other passengers, together with the guide."
Armer says a special flat rate is applicable to transfers using the new service, which includes the rental of the unit.
