A new study from the United States has found that travellers prefer hotels that use digital, self-service front desks.

US-based hospitality platform, Mews, conducted a study of 2 000 travellers and hotel workers to reveal growing trends in hospitality for 2024. Some 80% of travellers said they would opt to stay at a hotel that had an automated front desk or self-service kiosks; 40% of these travellers also said they preferred to check in using a website, app or digital kiosk.

Hotel workers said they anticipated that guests would use technology more this year, and 43% of guests said their ideal hotel would have in-room smart home devices; 70% said their perfect hotel would have fast WiFi.

“We love it when hotels use technology to solve their operational pain points and create immersive and truly remarkable guest experiences,” said Richard Valtr, Founder of Mews.
