"Impossible" deadline to be met

THE three- to six-month deadline - hailed by many as "impossible" - set for the Mpumalanga Parks Board's Independent Task Team's (ITT) restructuring of the organisation may be met sooner than expected.
This according to ITT member, Professor Joseph Maseko, who told Travel Now that the restructuring process was "progressing full steam ahead" and that he believed it would be on track for the three-month independent deadline the ITT set for itself.
He also said the respective provincial parks and nature reserves had not been adversely affected by the restructuring process.
"We are not interfering in the management or the day to day running of the parks or other structures."
Maseko emphasises that the restructuring process will not be a "witch hunt".
"We will be sensitive to the people and we are looking at trying to keep all the current staff - as far as possible."
Chairman of the ITT, Dr Joop de Loor, joins Professor Maseko and Ernest Khosa on the Board of Directors, until the restructuring process is over.
A first meeting of the Board will be held later this week to determine whether an interim board will be established during the restructuring process since the current members term of office ends by the end of March.
