Industry mourns travel stalwart

CHAIRMAN of the XL Travel
Group, Dudley Randall,
passed away on December
26. The travel industry
stalwart, who was also the
md of XL Turner’s Travel
and Turner’s Conferences,
was 65 years old.
Dudley joined XL Turner’s
Travel in 1990 and spent
35 years in the travel
industry. He leaves his
wife, Carol, and son, Jon.
Well known by all his
colleagues in the travel
industry, Dudley started
his early career in Eshowe
Zululand, becoming a
prominent
and respected
member of
the KZN travel
community.
He was also
instrumental
in the rapid
expansion of
the conference
division of
Turner’s Travel
following the
opening of the
Durban ICC.
XL Travel released the
following statement in
the wake of his passing:
“Dudley, who
held the role of
the Chairman
of the XL
Group since
the Group’s
inception
in 2004,
has been
instrumental in
the growth of
the XL Travel
Group over the
past 11 years
and the board of Directors
at XL Travel are deeply
saddened by his sudden
passing.”
