Innovative fastjet enhances pax experience

03 Nov 2021

Fastjet thrives on offering customers convenient and flexible products.

The award-winning airline recently introduced a flexible baggage solution that offers customers on international flights between Zimbabwe and South Africa up to 40kg of checked luggage.

As the world adjusts to the new normal, the value-based airline introduced a first-in-class service. It now offers customers the Flexi-Go products that enable them to manage their travel plans. Flexi-Go allows a customer to select from three options, namely Go Earlier, Go Later and Go Firm, and these have all been popular with both business and leisure travellers.

Go Earlier gives the customer the option to register their intention to travel on an earlier flight on the day of travel, provided they arrive at the airport in time for that earlier flight. With Go Later a customer can opt to catch the next flight, subject to space and availability. The Go Firm offering allows the customer to secure a seat on any flight within three days of their original booking for a fee of US$40 (about R610, depending on the exchange rate).

In keeping with its values of Choice, Value and Flexibility, fastjet has extended its flexible booking policy to the first quarter of 2022. This will allow customers to change their flight booking at no cost, 48 hours before their intended travel date, to a future date of travel.

Earlier this year, fastjet announced new payment methods in Zimbabwe. The airline partnered with Zimbabwe’s biggest bank, CBZ Bank, and fast-food outlet, Chicken Inn. This partnership has added 45 CBZ branches and 72 Chicken Inn outlets countrywide as payment options for fastjet customers.

The airline likes to have its website serve as a one-stop shop for travellers, and has partnered with global company, Avis Car Rental, to allow customers to book a car through the fastjet website.

The airline’s customer-centric approach has led to it being awarded the title of ‘Africa’s Leading Low-Cost Airline of 2021’ at the World Travel Awards. It is the sixth time it has received this distinguished award.
