As part of Ireland’s ‘rails to trails’ project, the old South East Greenway rail track that follows the coastline of the regions known as the Ancient East of Ireland has now reopened as a scenic walking trail.

The first 6km of the 24km trail is now open, allowing travellers to stroll down the coastline from town to town, taking in the region’s natural beauty and historic monuments along the way.

The South East Greenway, the newly reopened scenic walking trail, offers a route from New Ross to Glenmore. It also provides access to the Pink Rock region and the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Bridge.

Upon the trail’s completion, it will offer tourists access to Kilkenny, Wexford and Waterford counties and their beautiful towns and natural features, including the riverside town of New Ross, the vibrant city of Waterford and the idyllic River Barrow.
