LAM’s JNB-INH flights are back

LAM has re-started its flights between Johannesburg and Inhambane, with effect from today, Friday, September 29.

Two flights a week (TM332) are scheduled to depart from Johannesburg at 11h10, arriving Inhambane at 12h50 on Wednesdays and Fridays. The return flight, TM333 departs Inhambane on Sundays at 15h00, arriving in Johannesburg at 16h40.

This is good news for the popular resorts situated on and around the Inhambane promontory, such as Bonita Lodge and Coconut Bay and a host of others.

LAM will use a 72-seat Bombardier Q400 twin-prop on the route.

The airline is undergoing a revitalisation under management by the consultancy Fly Modern Ark appointed by the shareholder, the Mozambican Government, as it restructures and deals with a large debt.

LAM has reported that, after the first three months of the project, its debt of US$300 million (R5,7bn) has been slashed by $61,6 million (R1,16 bn).  The launch of new regional routes, particularly the Vilanculos-Johannesburg and Beira-Johannesburg flights, have proved successful, and in the last three months, LAM had seen a 24% increase in the number of passengers carried, pushing the number to more than 56 000. Flight revenue has risen by 10% to MZN671 million (R198m).
