If we do not open our skies soon to intercontinental flights, there will be no travel industry left.
Surely plans could be drawn up to allow flights three days a week – a certain airline could ‘claim’ one day and on that day/date it could land in the morning, keep the crew on board, load passengers with safety measures in place and then take off the same day.
People coming from Europe should now be considered low risk or ‘COVID-free’ and could be tested. And if travellers wanting to travel to see their families have to go into quarantine overseas for two weeks – that may be acceptable.
We need to stop having blanket rules that kill more than they save. Government should be very selective about which restrictions are kept in place.
