LIFT has expanded its payment options, allowing direct payments on its website using Apple Pay and Google Pay. Travellers can also pay for fares using cryptocurrency through the website’s integration with Ozow.
The move comes as digital wallet adoption accelerates in the country. LIFT cites Visa and Discovery Bank’s SpendTrend25 insights as the basis for the change, with the survey revealing that 45% of respondents were using virtual cards.
“Our research showed that South Africans are quickly adapting to various payment methods for their purchases, favouring speed and security when making payments, while embracing digital wallets,” says Cilliers Jordaan, Chief Commercial Officer at LIFT.
