An independent survey commissioned by the Avios Travel Rewards Programme has revealed that 90% of holidaymakers are staying in South Africa this December.
They survey was an online survey, which saw 608 participants, based on decision makers with a monthly household income of at least R15 000.
Table Mountain and Umhlanga Rocks are in South African holidaymakers’ top five holiday destinations.
The survey shows that 27% plan to spend less money this month compared with previous December holidays, while 36% plan to spend the same amount as previously.
The survey reveals that 65% of holidaymakers surveyed collect loyalty points and 86% of them look for discounts and cost-effective deals for the December holidays.
While 56% of holidaymakers plan to stay with relatives or in a self-catering apartment, 13% will be staying in hotels.
