Lufthansa sues climate activists

The Lufthansa Group has filed a lawsuit against six climate activists for blocking access to runways at Berlin Brandenburg Airport, resulting in several flight cancellations. The airline has demanded compensation of US$147 191 (R2,78m) for budget carrier Eurowings.

In November 2022, members of Last Generation, a German climate activist group, glued themselves to the tarmac and rode bicycles across the runways, forcing the airport to close its runways.

As a result, Lufthansa cancelled 10 flights, delayed 21 flights, and diverted another flight.
