The Lufthansa Group has assured passengers that fuel supplies remain strong for the European summer travel period.
According to Dieter Vranckx, CCO of the Lufthansa Group, there were no indications from suppliers that fuel supply would be at risk across the group’s European hubs (Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Vienna, Brussels and Rome) or at its international destinations.
“Just under a quarter of jet fuel shipments to Europe needs to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. To compensate for any shortfalls in those deliveries, imports are increasingly reaching us from other continents, for example from North America and Africa. European refineries have also ramped up their jet fuel production to maximum capacity,” said Vranckx.
The group does not anticipate further flight cancellations due to the conflict. However, should fuel shortages occur and flights be cancelled, passengers can be rebooked or receive a full refund of the ticket price.
“Customers can look forward to a comprehensive flight offering this summer. Our partner airlines are also planning to operate with a near-complete flight schedule during this year's peak season because demand for air travel around the globe remains consistently strong,” said Vranckx.
