Babohi, a new five-star exclusive lodge, recently opened in the Qwabi Private Game Reserve in the Waterberg region of South Africa’s Limpopo Province.

Newmark Hotels & Reserves added the reserve to its collection of unique safari destinations last year.

With 25 luxurious rooms and suites spread across four room categories, Babohi is the flagship offering at Qwabi Private Game Reserve and the second of three lodges to be built and refurbished in the 11 000-hectare conservation area.

Only guests older than 16 years are allowed at Babohi. Younger safari travellers are welcomed at Letamo Lodge, which offers an array of child-friendly facilities and services.

“We’re thrilled to expand on the offering at Qwabi Private Game Reserve, with Babohi now catering for a discerning market of local and international safari travellers. Today’s global traveller demands wilderness experiences that are both sustainable and authentic, without compromising on luxury, and Babohi is a perfect fit for this sector of the market,” said Neil Markovitz, CEO of Newmark Hotels & Reserves.

The stand-out offering is the more than 150sqm "Lion" presidential suite, which offers exclusive private dining and butler service on request.

Communal areas at the main lodge include a restaurant, bar areas and a double-storey spa.

Activities include twice-daily game drives in the reserve, which is home to the Big Five.

Showcasing geological formations and lush savannah grasslands and bushveld, the Waterberg is a proclaimed Unesco Biosphere Reserve, home to more than 5 500 species of flora and a rich biodiversity of species, many of which are endemic to the region.
