Lions Sands River Lodge, in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, Mpumalanga, reopened on May 1, following a fire that broke out last year.
River Lodge comprises 18 rooms, eight luxury rooms, six superior luxury rooms and four river suites. It can accommodate a total of 38 guests.
All eight luxury rooms have an en-suite bathroom, lounge area, mini bar and wooden deck. The six superior luxury rooms are larger and have open-plan bathrooms and outdoor showers, four of which are inter-leading, ideal for large groups or families. The four river suites are further from the public areas. They are more private and each has a private plunge pool, outdoor shower and views of the river. One of the river suites has two bedrooms and one bathroom.
Lodge facilities include a spa, main swimming pool area, a ‘memory lab’ where guests have the opportunity to have their photographs put on canvas, as well as a fire pit for social gatherings under the stars.
Living spaces at the newly reopened lodge include a safari lounge, barista station with artisanal coffees, a gallery showcasing the works of renowned local artists and a OneLife More boutique.
The dining experience includes a traditional boma, signature riverbed dinners and deck dining in the shade of the trees and overlooking the Sabie River. Breakfast is a home-styled experience.
The lodge is suitable for disabled travellers with assistance and welcomes children aged ten and over.
There is free WiFi in the guest areas and a full range of dietary preferences are catered for.
