MamKhize and the smile that will be missed

Lynette Mkhize, known to many in the industry as Khize or MamKhize, died at her family home in KwaZulu Natal earlier this month.

Lynette consulted at Travel Vision for over 10 years before joining Thompsons Holidays in its operations department in 2017, later taking up the role of advertising co-ordinator.

Lynette’s proudest accomplishment was the single-handed raising of her two daughters. She sent them to private schools in KZN and funded their later studies in econometrics and law. There was nothing that she would not do for her girls and she made endless sacrifices to ensure that they had only the very best, say friends.

“MamKhize was one of the most loyal, confident, smart, beautiful and diligent women I have ever known,” said Leigh-Ann Tayob. “I first met her when I started a job at Travel Vision and she quickly became like an older sister and confidante to me. We worked together at Travel Vision for 13 years and also in the Thompsons Holidays’ team. In addition to being an amazing consultant who built strong, good relationships in the industry, she exuded compassion and never held anything against you. She was the sister you would meet in the work bathrooms to have a quick chat with and the shoulder you would cry on.”

“We are devastated by the passing of such a dedicated and valuable employee. Lynette’s daughters can really be proud of their mum, who had an unquestionable work ethic and was one of our superstars,” said ceo of Thompsons Holidays, Joanne Adolphe.

“Lynette’s contribution to both the company and the marketing department will not be forgotten and we mourn her loss. She was highly respected throughout the company. Her integrity, hard work, determination and honesty will never be forgotten. We will miss her beautiful smile and laugh around the office,” said marketing manager of Thompsons Holidays, Celeste Muir.

“She was always a very helpful person, going the extra mile for clients and always keeping us up to date. There was always laughter around her,” said Travel Vision sales executive, Cheryl Smith.
