Melrose boutique hotel expands with new rooms, restaurant

The Peech Boutique Hotel in Melrose, Johannesburg, will almost double its capacity this year with the addition of 14 new rooms. Construction will begin in April and is expected to be completed by Christmas.

A new restaurant and wine bar will be added and will be open to non-residents. The hotel will operate normally during construction as the extension is being built on an adjacent piece of land.

The Peech is opposite the James and Ethel Gray Park, next to the Wanderers Club, and a short walk to Wanderers Cricket Stadium. It is 45 minutes from OR Tambo International Airport, 10 minutes from Sandton and five minutes from Melrose Arch and the Gautrain Station in Rosebank.

The Peech currently has 16 rooms spread across gardens and is Fair Trade Tourism Certified. It uses solar energy for water heating, and processes and recycles rain and grey water for garden use to create a carbon-neutral environment for guests and staff.
