Airline Moçambique Expresso (MEX), a Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) subsidiary, has resumed domestic and regional operations following two weeks of suspension due to a debt it had with Embraer, which meant that the manufacturer was obliged to cease technical support for the carrier, including the removal of access to the FlyEmbraer platform.
According to clubofmozambique.com, an internal communication, dated September 13, signed by MEX General Manager, Faustino Massitela, confirmed that MEX was able to guarantee the re-establishment of normal operations, effective immediately.
The airline has entered an agreement with the Brazilian aircraft provider, Embraer, to repay its debt of US$1,17 million (R22,35m).
One of the three ERJ 145s has now resumed operating domestic flights, as well as the Maputo-Johannesburg route.
