Monday Smile: Fiumicino opens dog hotel

Rome’s Fiumicino Airport has opened an on-site hotel for dogs, providing dogs with a luxurious experience while their owners are travelling.

Basic rooms at the hotel feature temperature-controlled floors and private gardens. At night, music designed for relaxation is played through the rooms’ speakers.

Travellers can treat their dogs with optional extras, such as grooming, bathing and cleaning teeth services, as well as aromatherapy or arnica massages for aching muscles and joints, AP News reports.

Webcams are also available so dogs can interact with their owners. An application is connected to a treat dispenser, allowing owners to toss their pet a treat from anywhere in the world.
