The New Ulaanbaatar International Airport in Mongolia is to be built as part of a multinational joint venture.
Located in the country’s capital city, the airport will be 50km south of Ulaanbaatar city and will enable aircraft to take off and land from both ends of the runway. Only one end of the runway at the existing airport, the Chinggis Khaan International Airport, can be used due to mountains to the south and east, which also means flight schedules are affected by weather conditions such as wind direction.
The airport is expected to open in the first half of 2020.
