Air Belgium’s new partnership with Air Mauritius has increased the number of seats available in the South African market to Brussels, the epicentre of Europe.
The Belgian carrier has a new interline agreement with Air Mauritius and this strategic collaboration significantly enhances connectivity for South African travellers. Under the interline agreement, Air Belgium will add two weekly flights from Johannesburg to Brussels via Mauritius. This will mean there will be four weekly frequencies from Johannesburg to Brussels, two direct and two indirect.
The route opens an attractive opportunity for passengers to indulge themselves and relax on the beach on the island of Mauritius en route to Europe, or on the return trip.
Year-round, Air Belgium operates direct flights from Johannesburg to Brussels on Mondays and Thursdays (this twice-weekly frequency has recently been slightly disrupted but will be restored from July 3). On Wednesdays and Saturdays, the connection from JNB to BRU via MRU will be available, offering transit or a stopover option in Mauritius. The direct routes ex-JNB and ex-MRU will be serviced by Air Belgium's highly-regarded A330-900neo aircraft, offering superior service quality and comfort.
The aircraft’s carrying capacity of 276 passengers is configured with 30 seats in business class, 21 in premium economy and 235 in economy.
Air Belgium has a solid footprint in Southern Africa through its partnerships with Airlink and Cemair, and the Air Mauritius partnership further strengthens that presence.

Less than a year ago, on September 15, 2022, Air Belgium re-established a direct air link between South Africa and Belgium, the first in more than 20 years.
