Post-election protests resurged in Mozambique this week, leading to road closures in Maputo and sporadic closures of the Lebombo Border Post between South Africa and Mozambique.

AFP reported that anti-government protesters and security forces had clashed across Mozambique on Wednesday, November 27, when two civilians died in the unrest. According to Bloomberg, the clashes continued on Thursday, November 28, with the Lebombo border closed for a second day.

However, the South African Border Management Authority said on Wednesday that it was still able to process pedestrians and small vehicles (ie not trucks) for movement through Lebombo.

Local Mozambican publication, Club of Mozambique, reported on Thursday, November 28, that central streets in Maputo were barricaded.
