MSC Cruises announced on May 26 that it would now sail the south Caribbean year-round, with the introduction of its first summer cruise in 2027.
MSC Opera will offer brand-new seven-night itineraries with the option to extend to a 14-night cruise in winter 2026-27 and summer 2027. The ship joins MSC Seaview, marking the first time the cruise line will deploy two ships in the south Caribbean during winter. It will also be the first time MSC has deployed a ship in the south Caribbean during summer.
The ship will homeport in La Romana, Dominican Republic, with the first cruise departing on November 16, 2026. From April 2027, Fort-de-France will be introduced as a second port.
Some of MSC Opera’s new itinerary highlights include:
- La Romana, Dominican Republic, featuring pristine beaches, local craft shops and entry to sites such as Cueva de las Maravillas.
- Catalina Island, Dominican Republic, known for its coral reef, white-sand beaches and variety of activities such as snorkelling and diving.
- Fort-de-France, Martinique, features colourful architecture, lively markets, local shops, rum distilleries, lush rainforest and idyllic beaches.
- Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands, includes visit to the famous tidal pool baths, pristine beaches and scenic hiking trails such as Gorda Peak National Park.
- St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, is known for its colourful houses and historic landmarks such as Fort James fortress.
