NCL has unveiled its new ship and ticket sales are open.
Norwegian Prima is the first of six ships to be built in Norwegian Cruise Line’s new Prima Class, the first new class to come out of NCL in the past ten years.
The 294m ship will accommodate 3 215 guests at double occupancy. NCL says it is a game-changer for the line, with more wide-open spaces, plus exciting itineraries, stunning design, a variety of new experiences as well as Norwegian’s exceptional service.
“Despite not having sailed in more than a year, we never stopped working and innovating, we never once pressed pause,” said Harry Sommer, president and ceo of Norwegian Cruise Line. “Not only will we begin cruising this July, we’re so proud and so incredibly happy to announce the start of an exciting new chapter as we introduce the Prima Class and the first ship in a line of unrivalled vessels with Norwegian Prima.”
The great outdoors
Norwegian says, in a media release, the ship has more outdoor deck space and more total pool deck space than any other ship in NCL’s fleet. There are multiple infinity pools and vast outdoor walkways allowing guests to take in the sea, the ocean breeze and a variety of elevated experiences.
NCL says the Norwegian Prima will offer the highest staffing levels and space ratio of any new cruise ship in her category, delivering an unrivalled guest experience. It will offer the largest variety of suite categories available at sea (13 suite categories), and the largest three-bedroom suites of any new cruise ship. It will also offer the brand’s largest-ever inside, Oceanview and Balcony staterooms.
The Haven by Norwegian (Norwegian’s exclusive ship-within-a-ship) spans eight decks of suites and public areas, providing its guests with private amenities, dedicated services and the most luxurious accommodations on board. For the first time, all 107 suites are located at the rear of the ship, and every public area in The Haven offers magnificent sea and destination views.
Ocean Boulevard
Located on deck eight, Ocean Boulevard occupies 13 400 square metres and wraps around the entire deck, allowing guests to walk around the entire ship and experience ocean views while having the opportunity to take part in many outdoor activities.
The multifaceted experiences on Ocean Boulevard include NCL’s first-ever open-air marketplace, Indulge Food Hall. The 11 food venues include Coco’s (artisanal sweet treats); Q Texas Smokehouse (American southern comfort food and barbecue) and Starbucks. Seaside Rotisserie will serve a wide array of rotisserie dishes; Nudls, an emporium serving noodle dishes from Italian to Thai; Tamara, offers Indian dishes and vegetarian food; The Latin Quarter offers classic Latin food with a twist; Tapas Food Truck, dishing up Spanish-inspired street food; Garden Kitchen, where guests order customised salads; Just Desserts, featuring classic desserts and then there is Just Ice Cream – the name says it all.
*Ocean Boulevard will have three additional dining venues offering both indoor and outdoor seating – Onda By Scarpetta (Italian); Los Lobos (Mexican) and The Local Bar & Grill (upscale beach club).
*It will also feature an outdoor sculpture garden, with an art wall designed by David Harber and six installations designed by Alexander Krivosheiw featuring immersive art inspired by ancient mythology and contemporary abstract forms.
*Infinity Beach features two infinity pools, one on each side of the ship and close to the ocean surface, a design first, that allows pool-goers to take in the vastness of the ocean while soaking in the open air.
*Two Oceanwalk glass bridges, also new to the brand, will provide guests with photographic, breathtaking views that will make them feel as if they are walking on air over the water.
*LaTerraza, an open-air lounge, features a quaint retreat with forward-facing sea views.
