ONKE Mlindi, who was previously employed as an associate lecturer in sports science at the University of Durban Westville, has taken up the challenge as the Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Education and Training Authority 's (THETA) new chamber manager for the sport and recreation sub-sector.
Mlindi says sport has a significant contribution to make to tourism, although until now it has been regarded as a "distant cousin".
"I look forward to playing a role in capacity building in this sector."
