South African travellers can now apply for a maxi tourist passport with 48 pages when their regular tourist passport of 32 pages is full, according to the Department of Home Affairs.

Maxi tourist passports are meant for frequent travellers and contain more pages for visas.

They are issued only to SA citizens aged 16 or older and is valid for 10 years. Once the validity period of the passport expires, travellers will have to submit a new application online.

All required documentation for maxi passports can be found on the department’s website.
