New owner for Vaal resort

The Riviera on Vaal resort is under new ownership.

Private investor, Koos de la Rey, bought the property from Mac van der Merwe Property Trust in November. It will be his first venture into hospitality, having previously invested in agriculture and residential properties. First on the agenda is an upcoming 18 months of renovation, during which the hotel will remain open.

“My goal is to turn the Riviera on Vaal into a competitive four-star hotel in the province that offers a wide range of activities to leisure and corporate patrons alike. Our team will also improve the 18-hole golf course,” says Koos.

The resort will offer accommodation, hospitality services for weddings and events, a restaurant, a spa, and a golf course. Picnics on the banks of the Vaal River and boat cruises will also be available.
