THE sudden
passing of md
of Trip Travel and
former rugby
captain, Piet du
Plooy, has left
the industry in a
state of shock.
The sad news
comes just two
weeks after Piet’s
career was celebrated by
his colleagues in travel
when he collected several
awards at the Amadeus
Shape Awards function.
According to The
Namibian, Piet suffered a
massive heart attack last
Thursday (November 6) and
underwent an operation to
insert a stent but
the operation was
unsuccessful. He
passed away two
days later following
a heart attack.
He was just 49.
Aside from his
successful career
in travel, Piet was
closely affiliated
with Namibian sport,
having represented the
country’s national rugby
team between 1992 and
1994. He also acted
as the Namibia Sport
Commissioner for many
years. He leaves behind
his wife Ilsje and son
AJ du Plooy.
The Travel Industry is
morning the loss of Carol
Wood who passed away on
November 4 after a brave
battle against cancer. Carol
is known in the industry for
her time at Travel Learning
Centre, Pathway Tours and
Florida Travel. She leaves
behind two daughters,
three granddaughters and a
grandson.
