Passengers have filed lawsuits against Delta Air Lines and United Airlines, claiming they were charged extra for a window seat but instead were seated next to a wall.
Proposed actions were filed against United in San Francisco’s Federal Court and against Delta in Brooklyn, New York’s Federal Court. The lawsuits seek millions of dollars in damages for more than a million customers of each airline.
Passengers have alleged that the airlines do not inform them that the seats are windowless during the booking process, even when charging extra for them.
According to Reuters, some Boeing 737, Boeing 757 and Airbus A321 aircraft have seats that would normally be next to windows that have since been replaced by air-conditioning ducts, electrical conduits or other components.
Other carriers, such as American Airlines and Alaska Airlines, operate similar aircraft but disclose during the booking process if a seat does not include a window, the passengers have claimed.
