Qantas has submitted a schedule to OAG, an airline data provider, showing it will reintroduce Johannesburg-Perth and Perth-Auckland flights.

According to multiple Australian publications, the routes will launch on December 7, and will operate three times weekly.

While the flights are not yet bookable, Aeroroutes, which documents worldwide airline schedule changes reports they will be made available soon.

According to Aeroroutes, the schedules for the new flights, that are still subject to changes, are as follows:

Perth-Johannesburg

  • On Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, QF65 will depart from Perth at 13h30 and arrive in Johannesburg at 18h45.
  • On the same days, the return flight QF66 departs Johannesburg at 21h35 and arrive in Perth at 13h30, the following day.

Perth-Auckland

  • On Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, QF111 will depart Perth at 19h00 and arrive in Auckland at 04h45, the following day.
  • On Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the return flight QF112 will depart Auckland at 08h30, and arrive in Perth at 11h30.

Qantas will be operating alongside SAA on the Johannesburg route and Air New Zealand on the Auckland route.

In June 2024, Travel News reported that Qantas had shown interest in reinstating its Perth-Johannesburg flights, last flown in March 2023, due to a commercial agreement between Qantas and Perth Airport.

Qantas’ South African office said it was unable to comment at this stage.
