RCI bans speakers on private island

Royal Caribbean International has restricted the use of Bluetooth speakers on its private island destinations, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.

According to Royal Caribbean’s prohibited items policy, Bluetooth speakers are still permitted onboard the ship. However, on the cruise line’s Perfect Day at CocoCay, it limits Bluetooth sound devices to headphones.

“You’ll find music to set the soundtrack to your day playing throughout the island. But if you’d prefer to listen to your own selection of music, we ask that you please do so with personal headphones,” says the website.

Other cruise lines such as MSC and Carnival Cruise Line have already implemented speaker bans. MSC prohibits all loud noise, including music speakers, boom boxes, radios, or any other device used in a loud manner. Under Carnival’s policy, passengers may not bring boom boxes, radios and all types of speakers, including Bluetooth, portable and wireless, on board.
