RWC 2027 releases schedule, prices

Ticket sales for the Rugby World Cup 2027 will open soon, with dates, venues and kick-off times confirmed. A total of one million presale tickets will be available from February 18, with prices ranging from AUD$40 (R450) to AUD$100 (R1 125,20). 

Teams are spread out across six pools, with the winner and runner-up of each match qualifying for the knockout round. Knockout is where the top16 teams will battle it out in single eliminations with a third-place play-off.

This major sporting event will see 52 matches played across 19 match days hosted by major cities in Australia, with the final match day scheduled for November 13, 2027. The schedule is mostly weekend-focused to maximise on supporter attendance. The opening match will take place in Perth Stadium on October 1, 2027 between Australia and Hong Kong. 

A 2025 Travel News poll, revealed that agents across South Africa saw burgeoning interest in the event, outweighing both the F1 Grand Prix and FIFA World Cup. 

World Rugby appointed SA Rugby Travel, Rennies BCD and Edusport as Official Travel Agents for the event, with each offering standard travel packages alongside curated itineraries for attendees looking to explore the city. 

The official RWC website has also confirmed visa requirements will follow standard procedures noting that South Africans will need a standard visitor’s visa to enter the country. Travellers can apply online with processing times estimated between 15 and 30 days and costs, as of publication, AUD$150 (R1 688).
