As travel demand to The Land of Smiles continues to rise, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) held its Amazing Thailand roadshow on March 28 at the @Sandton Hotel, where travel agents had the opportunity to interact with Thai hoteliers and learn about Thailand's tourist offerings.

TAT Executive Director Europe, Africa & Middle East, Teerasil Tapen, said they expected 58 000-plus South African visitors on a yearly basis.

TAT Director of UK, Ireland and South Africa, Sadudee Sangnil, told agents about the country’s hidden gems, saying the concrete jungle of Bangkok, also known as the ‘City of Angels’, formed a stark contrast to the country’s wildlife and adventure destinations. Her presentation also covered the country’s fascinating cuisine and Thailand being Asia’s spa capital.

Princess Majiki of Khuseleka Travel won the lucky draw first prize -- an economy class ticket on Singapore Airlines and nine nights’ accommodation that includes stays at Amari Hotel Phuket, Chada Hotel and Kata Sea Breeze Resort.

World Travel’s Chantelle Visagie and Belinda Magua with 2RP Travels’ Reshma Parshotam.
Amalia Howard from Travel Delight.
Rung-aroon Kumpalanuwat of Amari Hotel Phuket; David Pinches, GM Singapore Airlines, Southern Africa; winner, Princess Majiki of Khuseleka Travel; Mungkorn Pratoomkaew, Thailand’s Ambassador to SA; Felix Kaiblinger of Chada Hotel Group; and Matt Hindmarch of Kata Sea Breeze Resort.
