Saudia launches ‘Saudia Hajj and Umrah’ platform

Saudia Group announced the launch of its subsidiary, an online booking platform dedicated to providing travel packages for pilgrims attending Hajj and Umrah, ‘Saudia Hajj and Umrah’, during the third Hajj and Umrah Services Conference and Exhibition held from January 8-11 at the Jeddah Superdome.

Saudia Hajj and Umrah offers expanded operations, services and products for pilgrims from around the world to attend pilgrimages in Makkah, Medina, and other holy sites, reports eturbonews.com.

Saudia initiated a project to increase the frequency of flights and seat capacity during the Hajj and Umrah season, and a project to modernise its fleet to launch the platform. Furthermore, all the flights will have Islamic visual, audio and written content across channels on the aircraft.

The packages on the website include flight bookings, accommodation, transportation and organised visits to Islamic historic sites.

According to Sedick Steenkamp, Director of Al Safir Tourism, the platform will benefit South African travel agents for Umrah arrangements for clients. However, Hajj package bookings for clients will remain dependent on their approval in line with South Africa’s assigned quota for attendance, issued by Saudi Arabia’s Organisation of Islamic Coordination.
