SAX launches flights to Mahikeng

30 Sep 2015

SCHEDULED flights

have recommenced

at Mahikeng Airport

in North West province. SA

Express will operate flights

from Mahikeng to OR Tambo

International Airport and

Pilanesberg Airport.

Fares range from R400 for

Mahikeng to Pilanesberg and

from R600 for Mahikeng to

Johannesburg.

“For now, SAX is the only

airline to fly out of the airport,”

North West province acting

head of communications,

Brian Setswambung, told

TNW. “We have not had any

other airlines communicate

their interest in flying to the

airport as yet.”

Speaking at the recent

official launch of the flight

schedule at the airport,

North West Premier, Supra

Mahumapelo, said the move

was part of the provincial

government’s broader plan to

reposition the province with

special focus on Mahikeng

(formerly Mafikeng) as the

capital city.

On September 7, SAX

launched its MahikengJohannesburg-Pilanesberg

flights, which operate twice

daily on Mondays, Wednesdays

and Fridays using a 50-seat

Canadair Regional Jet 200.
