Schengen visa fees for short stays, (defined as 90 days in a 180-day period), are set to increase from June 11 by 12,5%, from €80 (R1 596) to €90 (R1 795) for adult applicants

According to schengen.news, the fee for children between the ages of six and 12 will increase from €40 (R798) to €45 (R897).

The latest data from the European Commission revealed that in 2023, 204 221 short-stay visa applications were made by South African citizens. Of these, 192 888, or 94,4%, were successful.

The Commission was due to publish the change in its Official Journal by the end of last week but is yet to do so.
