Seychelles Minister of Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry, Devika Vidot, and Enterprise Seychelles Agency Chief Executive, Lisa Lautoy, have announced that development of the Beau Vallon Promenade in Mahé is due to start in September.

According to seychellesnewsagency.com, this is expected to give a facelift to the tourism-oriented Beau Vallon foreshore, well known for its beach, restaurants and hotels, from the Boat House Restaurant up to the Coral Strand Smart Choice Hotel.

Vidot says authorities expect the changes to make the promenade more family-friendly and establish it as a place of leisure.

As a part of the development, 40 kiosks are planned for vendors, 10 of which will sell food. "We want there to be a variety of cuisines in the kiosks, which include Creole cuisine, fast food and confectioneries to attract children," says Lautoy. Four kiosks will also sell fresh juices and cocktails.

The development is expected to cost between SCR12 million and SCR15 million (R21-R17m). Construction will be managed by the government and carried out by construction company, Laxmanbhai.
