Earlier this month, Swan Hellenic’s largest ship, SH Diana set sail on an 11-day expedition to the Arctic following her naming ceremony in Amsterdam.

SH Diana is the third and largest ship in the cruise line and the most powerful in the line’s series of ice-class cultural expedition vessels made for premium discovery experiences.

According to Travel Daily Media, the 125m-long, 12 100-ton vessel has been purposely designed to explore the most inaccessible places around the world. It features a 4,6-megawatt diesel-electric propulsion system with selective catalytic reduction and a Polar Class 6 ice-strengthened hull, and is fitted with large stabilisers for passenger comfort.

SH Diana, which complies with all the latest environmental regulations, is equipped with exhaust gas cleaning, advanced wastewater treatment systems and waste storage facilities required for operating in sensitive polar areas. It is also completely self-sufficient for up to 40 days, or 14 816 nautical km.

The ship accommodates 192 guests in 96 staterooms and suites, most of which feature large balconies. It also offers expansive deck areas, a presentation and lecture theatre, gym, spa, panoramic sauna, fully-equipped restaurant and cellar, club room, and a swimming pool with a poolside grill.

Swan Hellenic is represented in South Africa by Cruise Corner.
