Skal makes way for new generation players

WITH 13 Young Skal groups having been established in countries throughout the world as part of a new Skal International initiative, Skal South Africa has taken the first tentative steps by appointing a Skal youth co-ordinator at its last quarterly meeting.
Skal SA national president, Sakkie Hattingh, told Travel Now that Skal Cape Town's Lanthia Stuart had been appointed as youth co-ordinator in an effort to "work out the mechanics" of establishing youth clubs to complement SA's existing eight Senior Skal clubs.
"Skal SA has always had a youth programme, which amongst others, sponsored the studies of a tourism student in an effort to get the youth involved in tourism, but in keeping with the global drive to establish Young Skal clubs with some 1 000 members by 2001, we've decided to formally establish the SA clubs."
Stuart will give a progress report at Skal's next quarterly meeting in mid-September.
