SQ announces KrisFlyer shake-up

Singapore Airlines is updating its frequent flyer rewards programme for KrisFlyer members. Changes will include cheaper long-haul economy redemptions, more expensive long-haul awards and new non-flying ways to earn status.

From November 1, Economy Saver award redemption rates for flights within Asia and South West Pacific will be reduced by 5% while Business and Suites/First Saver award redemption rates will increase by 5%.

Saver award rates will increase by 5% across all cabin classes for flights to and from Europe and the US. For flights to and from Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey, rates will rise by 10% to 20%.

Advantage award rates across all cabin classes, except for Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey, will increase by 10% to 15%. For Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey, the Economy Advantage rates will increase by 5%, the Business Advantage rates by 18%, and Suites/First Advantage rates by 15%.

From November 1, the airline is introducing Access redemption, providing the option to use KrisFlyer miles to secure flight tickets immediately if seats are available.

Currently, KrisFlyer members earn Elite miles only from flights, and Priority Passenger Service (PPS) members earn PPS Value from flying Singapore Airlines’ Suites/First or Business Class. However, from September 1, spending on Kris+ shopping and dining, KrisShop, and Pelago bookings will also count towards tier upgrades and renewals.
