Members of Unite union who are employees of Aviation Fuel Services (AFS) at London Heathrow could go on strike for 72 hours from May 4, resulting in significant flight disruptions.

According to simpleflying.com, Unite announced that 50 AFS employees are planning a strike that may result in departing flights being delayed, disrupted or cancelled due to the inability to refuel. Data from Cirium shows thatLHR has 2 671 outbound flights scheduled between May 3 and 6.

AFS, a joint venture between major oil and gas companies, including Air BP, Total, Q8 Air and Valero, is being accused of reducing benefits for new employees.

Unite has reiterated to AFS and LHR that its members are responsible for refuelling aircraft for 35 international carriers such as Virgin Atlantic, Air France, Emirates, and Ethiopian Airlines.
