Strike to cause flight chaos in France

Air traffic controllers throughout France are planning to strike on Thursday, April 25, as a result of their dissatisfaction over the restructuring of air navigation services.

According to lesechos.fr, it is estimated that Paris Orly may cancel 75% of its flights, and Charles de Gaulle 55% of its flights.

SNCTA, the trade union representing over 60% of France’s ATCs, cancelled its walkout after a settlement was reached last night (April 23). The trade union has also submitted a notice for walkout strikes from May 9 to May 11.

Two other unions, including UNSA-UTCAC, will reportedly go ahead with their plans to strike on Thursday.

The French press has dubbed the upcoming protest ‘journée noir’ (black day) for France’s airports.
