WITH almost eight hours
of back-to-back, table-top
meetings, suppliers in
attendance were excited to
meet some of the new faces
from the Namibian travel
trade.
Fernando Hendricks,
business development:
Africa at TIC, said he
looked forward to attending
the event as it was an
opportunity to meet with
some of the agents from
Namibia’s coastal regions
and not just Windhoek.
“Also, the atmosphere is
always great and is different
every year, with new agents
and ITCs in attendance.”
Amber Agnew, senior
sales executive of Europcar
Namibia, said while the
company saw TMCs
regularly, the event was
where it got to meet the
ITCs and some of the
smaller players and new
entrants.
Amber agreed that the
recession had hit Namibia.
“We’ve seen a decline in
government bookings, not
just downsizing but, in some
cases, even closing down
in the corporate space. At
the same time, we’ve seen
an increase in leisure,” she
said.
The event saw almost 100
Namibian travel trade and
32 suppliers gathered at
the Windhoek Country Club
Resort to discuss business
and have some fun in the
process.
