TAAG Angola Airlines has reported significant profit growth in its recently-released 2022 financial results.
The airline reported profit of more than US$800 000 (R15,49m) in 2022. This is the first time it’s reported a profit since the COVID pandemic.
According to Airspace Africa, TAAG also reported a significant improvement in operating revenues for 2022. This reached US$390 million (R7,551bn), double the revenue volume of the previous year.
COO Lisa Mota-Pinto McNally attributes this growth to various factors, including a rise in frequencies, as well as a higher passenger occupancy per available seat kilometre (ASK). ASK grew by over 80%, and TAAG also saw a surge of about 180% in its revenue per ASK.
The airline achieved these results despite operating with a reduced fleet, demonstrating a more efficient operation and optimised resource management.
