TAAG secures Boeing deal

TAAG Angola Airlines will acquire aircraft and spare engines through a $297 million (R5,2 billion) financing package supported by the US Export-Import Bank (EXIM).

The EXIM Board of Directors approved the transaction on July 17, which supports the export of Boeing 787-10 passenger aircraft and General Electric Aerospace spare engines.

The deal forms part of Angola’s plan to position the new Dr Antonio Agostinho Neto International Airport in Luanda as a major regional and intercontinental hub.

In June, the airline announced all its operations would transfer to the new airport from September 15.
