As of this week, tourists who spend more than three hours at the Taj Mahal will be fined, reports India TV News.

Previously, visitors were allowed to stay from opening to closing time.

Now, entry will be gained through a token that is valid for three hours, exceeding which, a visitor will be required to recharge it at the counter at the exit gates. The exact amount for the recharge has not been published.

Tourists currently pay 1 100 rupees (R233) plus an additional 200 rupees (R42) to step inside the site’s main mausoleum.
